Hi everyone in today's podcast we're gonna talk about childbirth education

and my experience creating a new kind of childbirth class for today's parents.

So over the past few years I've heard anecdotes from childbirth educators around the country

that there seems to be a little bit of

trouble with childbirth education today. Educators tell me that they are

experiencing dwindling registration rates for their classes and there seems to be an increase in parents who either want the one day

class or no childbirth class at all. There also seems to be some negative

connotations with childbirth classes.

Parents have told me that childbirth classes seem like they would be awkward or uncomfortable

and that they're too busy to take a full six-week class and especially a 12-week series.

There's many problems, as you could imagine, with parents not taking a childbirth class or only taking a one one day class. By not educating themselves, parents are simply

not prepared for the realities of today's health care system. Also, if they only take a one day of class, there's really no way for them to absorb all that material.

Research shows that most people stop absorbing class materials after about 10 minutes of the class starting.

Also, by just attending one class day, there's no way to continue to practice,

no one to ask questions of later on, no one to hold you accountable so that you keep practicing
