series and today I wanted to talk with you about the concept of painless childbirth.

podcast. So when I first started sharing my podcasts and videos about pain management

during childbirth, some people commented on Facebook and also messaged me, asking me if I could

talk about the concept of pain not necessarily being part of childbirth, because some people

have experienced what they would consider to be painless childbirth or totally comfortable childbirth.

But how many people experience this phenomenon?

Well, my research assistant and I went down a huge rabbit hole trying to find research on the percentage of people who might experience painless childbirth.

A lot of the blog articles out there and newer articles reference a 1998 article published in the American

Journal of Nursing. So we went and actually pulled that original article. It was kind of like an

editorial or opinion piece that suggested that 1% of people or 1 in 100 do not experience pain during labor or childbirth.
