Now, if you don't know who he is, he's a renowned executive team coach, speaker, thought leader, and founder of the company for Rossi Greenlight, where he spent more than 20 years coaching Fortune 500 companies, unicorn startups, and even governments, which you'll hear us talk about that in the episode. He's a business coach that challenges the way teams work to achieve active breakthrough results. And here's the thing, like just skipping the formality here, we get into a conversation here about just how much we share, you know, just thing might not be the right word, |
| 4:05.8 | so give me some grace, but frustration |
| 4:08.3 | with how many people out there in the guru land |
| 4:11.9 | pitch things that are kind of, |
| 4:13.8 | they're great philosophically, right? |
| 4:15.8 | It's this one word phrase or idea, |
| 4:18.7 | but they don't really have a process behind them, right? |
| 4:21.0 | It's one thing to go in and say, |
| 4:21.9 | oh, we need to be vulnerable or we need to have this |
| 4:24.8 | or we need to have that. |
| 4:25.8 | But folks, vulnerability, grit, whatever those things and non-whist standing, you still have to have a process when you're trying to build better teams. And there's no easy way to do it. So that was one of my favorite parts of the episode is why culturally we are still stuck on this love for the easy path, the hacks, any of those things. |
| 4:45.9 | But most of you are gonna know Keith |

I am here with Keith Varazi. Keith, thanks for joining me. We're looking forward to this. A bit surreal for me because I'm sure like many other people and all the people that have interviewed you on all the platforms I remember never eating alone or never eat alone. I was on a plane It was my first international speaking event and that was a fundamental book for me And you know, they're we're gonna talk a lot of sub about a lot of subjects over the course of this But I want to give you an easy on ramp because I find in the first five minutes right whenever you're're having a conversation with a complete stranger, we want to mix this small talk and get right into it. So I thought a lot about what question could I ask this guy that's probably heard all the bullshit in the world to really connect with him. So right, you've built a career teaching people how to build genuine reciprocal relationships, strangers or not, okay? Here we are, strangers. What do you think, and I know there's not just one, but what is one of the most common mistakes people make within the first five minutes of trying to get to know somebody that they've never met before and want to build a genuine relationship with? Well, it's probably a couple of things. First of all, the mindset of walking into a conversation, if it's transactional, like, what am I going to get from this guy? Yeah. That'll stink on your suit a mile away. Doesn't mean that you don't want to get something from this guy. But what you should be asking yourself is, what could we create together? It's good. What could we create together? And that's a big difference. The other thing is I always even before I show up to build a relationship with somebody if I have a desire and have build that relationship I have always asked myself what are five packets of generosity I could bring to the table? Five packets of generosity one of them could be you Brett, I just frankly I want to say that of all the podcasts |
| 7:07.3 | I listen to, I really do love your no bullshit mindset. Appreciate that. It's like, that's an authentic thing that I believe and I could be prepared for that. Yeah. I could also ask, you know, Brett, who the guy, you know, I'm a part of this group, you're probably aware of it called Thinkers 50. And I'm being celebrated or put up on a post, |
| 7:26.2 | I'm not sure what it is at the big meeting this year. |
