| 0:00.0 | Here's a question I have for you. If you are not willing to invest in yourself in general, let alone during hard times. Why would you be surprised when others are not willing to invest in you? And I ask you this question because so many of you are really sharp talented people, but you get in your own way. | 3:26.0 | I'm gonna go back to the hotel. |
| 3:28.0 | I'm gonna go you're joining us. Let's dive in. All right, welcome back to another episode of the podcast. Today we're going to have a quick hitter episode for you. This could veer into B side territory. If you don't know what that means, it means periodically I do episodes of the podcast that aren't really about the refined side of it and they're more just straightforward. Sometimes things we need to hear unedited and sometimes even tongue-in-cheek type episodes. Now this one, it's tough to know where to place it because I can easily get pretty passionate about this. Let me ground it in this. Any leader, coach, manager, choose whatever phrase that you want knows what it can be like. It's a huge privilege, but it also can take a lot out of you when people come to you for advice to complain to vent all those things. Now, I wouldn't trade it for the world. I want to be a trusted resource for people, but I'm grounding it like this because of a certain reason. And today's topic. Within the past few weeks, the majority of people that have reached out to me have expressed some level of frustration. Now maybe it's because it's the end of the year and things are weighing on people. Maybe it's because of kind of the state of things right now socially. But there are a lot of people that just say something along the lines of, I legitimately feel like I'm about to lose my mind that how either lazy some people are or what it feels like to be a high performer that actually expects something of myself in today's society where everybody else comes up with excuses. Or, you know, they speak to the social media aspect, which I've certainly done as well, how exhausting it is to continue to see a world that seems to favor sound by cliche, hypersped up, manicured content. And that is what really grounds today's episode is, people saying, how do I have any hope at finding my voice or having future success if this is kind of where society's heading? If people don't want to sign up for my service, or if people don't want to follow my work, or if they, because I'm actually demanding accountability from them, or I'm asking them to have skin in the game, or because I'm not going to do it for bargain basement prices. What do I do? And one person in particular, and I address this on a social media post, which made me want to do this podcast, this podcast said that I've been doing what I do for more than a decade. Yet now I'm watching somebody grow. H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H- three things you need to do, five things you need to do right now, there's not even a breath. It's just jump cut, jump cut, jump cut, jump cut. And they're like, I don't want to do that. What should I do? Now, we talk about how there's not even a breath. It's just jump cut, jump cut, jump cut. |
| 6:05.1 | And they're like, I don't wanna do that. What should I do? Now, we talk about how there's no one size fits all advice, but here's my take on this, at least what I'm doing. And I might, who knows, maybe this is something that ends up bearing art of coaching and my own content. But I'm a big believer in that when the world gets Noisier, louder and dumber. |
| 6:26.6 | Your strategies have to get simpler. |
| 6:28.4 | You need to be more consistent and straightforward. The answer here is an endure. So don't worry, I'm not just going to tell you just outlast it. It's okay. Because I know many of you, your ability to pay the bills depends on people to listen to your content, understand your ideas, appreciate the value that you bring to the table. It does for me too. The minute many of you quit listening or the minute nobody |

| 6:45.0 | It does for me too. |

| 6:55.2 | There's no more free podcasts, |
| 6:57.5 | there's no more free information |
| 6:59.6 | because I have bills to pay just like many of you do. |
| 7:03.0 | What I am saying is you have to find boundaries that you're willing to adapt within. Like so for us, I'm not gonna do the five-second sound bites either. We've had somebody come up in the last few years that all of a sudden just gives people scripts on what to say. Hey, if somebody's rude to you, say this. If somebody does this to you, say this. And they have millions of followers. And by the way, I don't know this person, so I'm not going to dig it them. What I am going to |
| 7:29.0 | say is that's not what I do, right? And that's not what we're going to try to become just because it worked for somebody else. I teach skills, right? That's why our workshops are hands-on. That's That's why our mentoring is accountability base. |
