Hello and welcome to the Byron New York show. Thank you for joining us. If you've

listened to this podcast before, you know we don't like a lot of chit chat at the top, we just want to get straight

into it and today we're going to do that with our guest Andy McCarthy of National Review and

many other esteemed publications and organizations and perhaps most importantly

a former assistant U.S. attorney which allows him a lot of expertise to speak about all sorts of things

that are going on today.

You know, I think we probably ought to start with John Durham, the US attorney in Connecticut who has been

tapped a while back, not just recently, but tapped a while back by the Attorney

General William Barr to investigate the origins of the

Trump-Russia investigation. Do you know John Durham? I do know John Durham I think

he's terrific he's Byron I think he's really kind of a sort of a prosecutor's prosecutor.

He doesn't really come at this, I don't think, with any kind of an ideological or partisan agenda.

His background is to have been chosen by the Clinton administration,

the George W Bush administration, and the Obama administration to perform

important functions and involvement in important cases as a special counsel or effectively a special counsel.

I personally think that this particular arrangement, which would have been much preferable to the Mueller investigation, is the best way to do an investigation.

You don't have to worry about the special counsel regulations.

You know, there's no need to start the investigation by identifying a criminal predicate or by

identifying a conflict of interest which would prevent the Justice
