And this is another installment in our ongoing series, Charles Manson's Hollywood. Last week we detailed the August 1969 murders that sent shock waves through Los Angeles, the entertainment industry, and the world.

It would be months before Charles Manson and his quote unquote family members were charged

with the killings of Sharon Tate, Rosemary Lab Bianca, and five other people.

Even though the Los Angeles sheriff already had Manson Associate Bobby Boselet in custody for killing Gary Hinnman.

And the Manson family had specifically styled their later killings after the

Hinman crime scene so that investigators would think they were committed by the same entity.

For months, nobody in the general public or in Hollywood knew who committed these crimes, or why.

They had suspicions, and because suspicions were all they had to go on,

paranoia filled the vacuum of information.

The Manson murders occurred the weekend before Woodstock,

remembered by many as the peak of the Good Vibe era of the 1960s.

But already, on the West Coast, the good vibes were

withering away, replaced by fear. It would be two months before they'd arrest

Manson and it wasn't until December 1st It would be two months before they'd arrest Manson,

and it wasn't until December 1st that the LAPD

announced the public that they'd crack the case.
