Even though the Los Angeles sheriff already had Manson Associate Bobby Boselet in custody for killing Gary Hinnman.

And the Manson family had specifically styled their later killings after the

Hinman crime scene so that investigators would think they were committed by the same entity.

For months, nobody in the general public or in Hollywood knew who committed these crimes, or why.
