This is the episode that I have been dreading and which I suppose some of you, maybe, have been waiting for.

This is the episode in which Charles Manson

and about a quarter of his followers

begin to become murderers.

Everything we've talked about thus far is relevant to why Manson sent his followers out to commit these crimes.

But the moment on August 8th, 1969, when Charles Manson returned

to Spawn Ranch and got the news that Bobby Bosely was in jail for the murder of Gary Henman, was arguably the most pivotal moment.

In Manson's transition, from would-be rock-star nutbird fringe hippie guru to mastermind of mass murderer.

Charlie was livid when he heard the news.

Bobby had said he wasn't going to snitch, but Charlie didn't believe him.

Charlie believed that if Bobby was left to rot in jail for long enough,

Bobby would say anything that he thought might get him free.

Charlie figured that he had two options.

He could run away, leave Spawn Ranch, and probably leave the family behind.

But he didn't want to do that.
