Today I'm chatting to Doeliepa.

You'd think that being optimistic or positive is the way forward, but I think just looking around and seeing the state of the world.

It's like if you really want to connect with people, if you really want to have close relationships or you want to really understand someone,

then you have to kind of get into the things that are outside your comfort zone.

You can't just put a bandaid over something really terrible, happy thing being like,

oh well you should just be grateful that other things are good in your life.

It's like that's kind of makes you feel a little bit nauseous instead of being like, okay let's get to the root of this.

Like you're hurting, let's figure it out.

Doers list of achievements as an artist is so extensive. There are all the Britter Awards, the Grammys, the MTV Music Awards,

and her song New Rules has literally billions of streams on YouTube.

But she's just as passionate about the rest of popular culture as she is music.

Last year she founded a brilliant newsletter called Service 95, which is basically a cultural concierge.

She recommends all the latest stuff going on in style, art, and society more widely.

It's very cool indeed and I very much enjoyed looking around it.

We had this chat remotely when we had the bizarre moment of spring snow in the UK.

So I was here experiencing that and doer was in gorgeous sunny New York.

I felt like I started to get a really lovely sense of the real doer during this conversation.

The one who loves yoga, meditation, art, theatre, and appreciating just hanging out in the same room as her oldest friends,

but who's also incredibly driven and resilient.
