Summary

EP20 - hey guys! i think i am finally finding my voice, learning to assert authority when needed and knowing when to say no AND IT IS SUCH AN IMPORTANT PART OF LIFE, i cannot express that enough. i've been going through some situations that have tested me recently and i have had to rely on myself to be an advocate for what i truly want and support myself and it can be hard, it's a real journey. one area of my life that this is especially true is going on nights out and drinking, as someone who struggles with how alcohol affects my mental health, i find the pressure to drink challenging to navigate and want to talk about it. i hope others relate or can learn to empathise after listening to this, love to you all as always <3

Good morning. I hope you guys are well. We are back for another episode and this one is

0:08.0

influenced by my night out the other day and I haven't actually been drinking. I think the last

0:15.1

when I went out was three months ago before Bali and I went out a couple of days ago and it just really made me like put all my

0:25.3

thoughts together in my head and I was like I need to share this and I did share a little bit on

0:28.8

my Instagram story and so many people like resonated with it and was like you need to talk

0:33.9

about this more so I was like you know what this is the next podcast episode because

0:37.5

i feel that you know it's so normalized these days to just that whole drinking culture and if you are

0:46.6

somewhat not a part of it people just don't understand and i don't feel like there's many of us

0:53.0

within a friendship group.

1:00.0

So this is like our way to bond and just like hold our ground, understand what's going on and just make you feel a little bit less alone.

1:02.6

And hopefully some things that can help you hold your ground.

1:07.3

I think the first thing to recognize is, and I haven't always been like this, like when I was,

1:15.0

I started drinking probably 15, like in England, that's pretty normal.

1:19.6

15, you know, having the bottles of vodka, whole bottle of wine to myself, like, the aims just

1:26.0

get absolutely, like, drunk. You're with guys,

1:30.4

you're with girls, like, yeah, so many times. And that then worked with where I was

1:39.6

mentally, spiritually in my journey. Like, I was a teenager. And I would say probably like the last year

1:49.6

has it slowly been like declining my want to drink alcohol. And it's very much aligned with

1:58.0

how I've been doing mentally. When I've been more self-aware and more conscious of

2:04.9

what's going on and working on my mental health, every time did I drink, I didn't really enjoy it

2:11.9

and I couldn't really get into it. I really questioned myself a lot because, let's say, for example, when me and my

2:20.4

boyfriend started going out, like at the beginning, like, our first date was like at a rave,
