Keta Burke-Williams, founder of “unconventional yet intimate” fragrance brand Ourside was just what the industry of traditionally Eurocentric fragrance needed to shake things up. As the daughter of a Jamaican mother and African American father growing up in Dayton, Ohio, Keta never quite felt like she fit in and was always looking for ways to escape into new experiences, particularly through scent. 0:06.5	I am recording this intro from my hotel room in Tokyo. I'm actually on a trip right now with

0:15.7	to go to their corporate museum where they have all of the archives and the early products
0:19.9	and fragrance has been a part of the company history for a long time and I got to smell like really
0:24.3	early fragrances and hear about the formulations for early fragrances that were being made in like the
0:28.8	early 1900s in Japan. It was very fascinating and it just reminded me that today's episode is
0:33.9	an episode for the cent nerds for the fragrance people. I talked to Keta who was the founder of
0:40.2	R-Side, a brand that I think it arrived first in a credo box and then I heard a few people around me
0:45.3	talking about it and the fragrances were like nothing I had ever smelled before and as you all know
0:50.5	or maybe you don't know but the fragrance world is not very diverse and for Keta to be charting
0:55.7	this path as a young black woman in the fragrance world someone who was doing things in a way that
0:59.6	was different and thinking about non-toxic ingredients. I just thought it would be such an
