John 4, Proverbs 20.

Now here in John 4, we've been talking about this all week as we said, but we'll review just a little bit for the benefit of those of you that haven't been with us.

Here in John 4, the Bible tells us that Jesus and his disciples were traveling, and they went through Samaria.

And when they came through Samaria, he stopped at a well there, and they went on to get something to eat.

And while he was standing there, the Bible said a certain woman of Samaria came to draw water. Now, Jesus has been traveling

for some time, and he's tired, the scripture said, and apparently thirsty. And he's standing by

a well, but he can't get the water out because the well is deep, and there's no fixed apparatus on the

well to draw water up out of it.

People brought their own buckets or their own vases with ropes and drew the water out for themselves.

That was the practice in those days in that part of the country.

And so he's standing there thirsty by a well.

Amen?

You'd think if you're by a well, you could get something to drink, but how many, oh, that's not

always the case, you know?

I mean, you can be, you can be standing by a pop machine with ice, cold pop inside of it,

and be thirsty.

But if you don't have anything to get it out of there with, is that right?

I've seen situations where I needed some water, and there was a great big, you know, faucet there,

but somebody had taken the handle off of it.

You can't get it on.

I mean, you've got lots of water right there.

If you could just get that thing on, you know.
