John 4, Proverbs 20.

And we'll begin in the fourth chapter of John and remind ourselves of this passage.

The background of the story here is that Jesus went to Samaria, and he's standing by a well there,

and a woman came, and he asked her to give him something to drink, and she asked him why, you know, that he asked asked her because she was a Samaritan.

Verse 10, Jesus said if she knew who it was that said to her, give him to drink,

that she would have asked of him and he would have given her living water.

Verse 11, she said, well, sir, you don't have anything to draw with and the well is deep.

Where are you going to get this living water?

And verse 13, Jesus answered and said unto her,

Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again.

But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst,

but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water

springing up into everlasting life. Notice that phrase again. Whosoever drinketh of the water that I

shall give him? I'm going to know he's talking about salvation.

Whoever that'll drink of this water shall never thirst.

How many know that there is a thirst in the soul of every person that doesn't know Jesus?

Amen.

They try to quench that thirst with all kind of things.

Some folk try to drown it with alcohol.

Some folk try to cover it over with drugs.

Some folk try to sat sat satiate it with immorality or money or possessions.

But how many know that there's only one thing that'll satisfy that thirst?
