Summary

Agriculture. Capitalism. Controversy. Biology. Viruses. This is a heavy one, my friends, and requires a bit of a preface on the cultural risks of meme-ifying the “other side”, which you’ll hear. I really hope you listen, but more than that, I hope you begin engaging in dialogue. I’ve wanted Zach on the show for a while now, and have been following his work with interest, and I’d be happy to hear your take. Zach Bush MD is a physician specializing in internal medicine, endocrinology, and hospice care. He is an internationally recognized educator and thought leader on the microbiome as it relates to health, disease, and food systems. Dr. Zach founded *Seraphic Group and the nonprofit Farmer’s Footprint to develop root-cause solutions for human and ecological health. His passion for education reaches across many disciplines, including topics such as the role of soil and water ecosystems in human genomics, immunity, and gut/brain health. His education has highlighted the need for a radical departure from chemical farming and pharmacy, and his ongoing efforts are providing a path for consumers, farmers, and mega-industries to work together for a healthy future for people and the planet. Welcome to the man talk show. I'm Connor Beaton. And joining me today is a man that I've wanted to interview for some time. His name is Dr. Zach Bush. I very much respect his work and his perspective. He's done a

0:24.4

tremendous amount for, I mean, really our world, I would say in my opinion and has brought to light

0:31.0

some really important aspects of our health system, our farming system, our ecosystem, our food system, how we eat.

0:41.0

But before I bring him on, I want to just have a bit of a dialogue, even though I guess you can't

0:46.9

necessarily rebuttal or talk back right now or engage in the conversation.

0:52.8

But I would encourage you to do so online.

0:55.2

Feel free to DM me with your thoughts after this episode at Man Talks on Instagram.

1:00.8

But I want to have a little bit of a preface to this episode because I think it's required.

1:06.1

I believe that we've entered into a space culturally and socially where to go against the

1:14.4

mainstream narrative to have discourse and dialogue around things that are perceivably on the fringe

1:24.4

in some capacity or that go against the the normal way of looking at a certain situation

1:32.4

brings a lot of fire, brings a lot of heat within people's commentary.

1:39.0

And what I've noticed is that people have largely online and offline lost the capacity to have regular discourse

1:47.9

around certain topics, right?

1:50.2

I mean, think about in the past year how frequently you have disengaged from or completely

1:57.9

avoided engaging in a political conversation or a conversation about the

2:02.4

pandemic or a conversation about vaccines, simply because you believe and hold the belief that

2:11.1

the conversation is pointless, that the conversation is not going to yield anything fruitful.

2:17.8

And this is a, in my perspective, a very scary sign of the times that when we lack the ability

2:26.2

to have discourse, when we cease having the capacity to engage in dialogue, which is the

2:33.5

foundational principle, one might argue, for a

2:38.1

well-structured, well-operating society.
