Summary

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!

Join Pip and producer Buddy Peace in a 'quincentenary' celebration as the podcast reaches episode 500! PART 2 of 2!

Pip and myself don't often sit down and recount the archives of the Distraction Pieces Podcast in an official capacity. We might refer back to episodes here and there, or talk in a bizarre shorthand only decipherable by us about certain prior events and occurances in the past. But this time we sat down and recorded a whole epic feature length episode of us doing the damn thing and here is part 2 of the double drop!

It was a pleasure and delight, and a real treat to give some context to this ongoing project which drops every Wednesday (and sometimes more), and find a space to stop, check in, celebrate, be still for a moment and look at what's happened over the years. Turns out A LOT HAS HAPPENED. But you would expect that right? So here it is, the second of two full conversations with me (Buddy Peace) and Pip, peppered with comments and questions from listeners throughout. This could even be a good first listen for some folks if they haven't heard it before, actually - definitely a huge amount of "Oh I'm listening that THAT one straight after this" type stuff.

Enjoy, and huge love to you all for being with us and supporting the Distraction Pieces Podcast. Love ya. XXX

PS: I looked up 'quincentenary' and everything.

Welcome, welcome, welcome to part two of episode 500 of the distraction pieces podcast.

0:09.7

It might surprise you to learn that it's taken me probably about 25.

0:18.5

I'd say that's a rough, that's a, that's a generous estimate.

0:21.7

About 25 takes of that welcome, welcome, welcome intro.

0:25.7

The reason being that Pip doesn't really have guest intros on the distraction pieces podcast with good reason,

0:34.7

but on this occasion he, he issued me the challenge of recording an outro for part one and an intro for part two of episode 500.

0:43.4

And I wanted to make it perfect.

0:47.0

And so of course I immediately went inside my head and was trying to achieve perfection with every single take

0:54.8

and every single time I said welcome, welcome, welcome.

0:58.2

And I think this is going to be the one I'm committing to it.

1:02.6

I'm going to settle on it.

1:04.4

I will also say that I don't really know how Pip does these intros and outros every single week without a script.

1:12.6

He might have notes, but I don't think he uses a script.

1:16.1

This, yeah, it's really, really not as easy as it might sound, especially when this is probably the only time I'm going to intro the podcast.

1:24.2

So yeah, don't, don't imagine for a second that this took one take and it was perfect.

1:30.5

This is probably one of the tougher things I've done today in the day of fairly tough things, I'd say.

1:37.4

So yeah, I really hope you enjoy this part too.

1:41.7

This is obviously the follow up to part one, which is just the, it's a continuation of the, the long chat that we had about the podcast and about history, the process, everything involved.

1:52.5

Much of the same, but with a few more nice details and treats and call like behind the scenes, almost like directors, commentary type stuff, which should, I think it should appeal to the long term and short term listeners are like.

2:06.6

Obviously the long term listeners will have the benefit of an extensive kind of back catalogue in their heads, perhaps, but I think for short term listeners, it's great because you might have started on fairly recent episodes, perhaps.

2:20.6

But this should give you some nice background and some of the really early episodes and yeah, there's a lot that happened in those, those early days and yeah, I mean, it really sort of brought to light how much, like how long this journey's been.

2:35.8

And I'll say this now as well, it's been an absolute honor to be a part of that journey.
