I first met today's guests in 2010.

It was a long time ago.

I even had cheekbones.

She was 18 years old.

It was the university, college, London occupation,

in opposition to a 300% hike in tuition fees. Maybe you'll remember.

She has been integral to the journey we've had here on Navarra Media in the last decade.

So I've known her both politically and professionally. She's always been one of the most

impressive people. I know. And that was true from the first few weeks

that we got to know one of the right through to today.

I'm really happy about today's conversation

because it's about her debut book,

Minority Rule, Adventures in the Culture War.

At the heart of this book, its hypothesis, is the claim that many of the

ideas which were generated during that period when we first met one another, around the left,

around identity, around meaning and around power, and how to counter out those things,

have, rather surprisingly,

become the ultimate tool in the hands of the right as they accumulate more economic, political,

and even cultural power than ever before.

It's a powerful idea, and I think there's a lot to it.
