Let's talk about nonsense.

Let's talk about nonsense today, shall we?

There is an expression, a saying, an at age, so to speak, that I absolutely detest,

but people throw it around. You sometimes even hear it in songs, you hear it in movies. And I used to actually hear this in my

corporate career. It's that old saying that has different variations based on your industry,

but you know, you're only as good as your last deal.

You're only as good as your last hit. You're only as good as your last, I don't know,

movie if you're an actor, album if you're a singer. This expression is so stupid on so many levels.

And I rarely talk about things that are stupid but this one it really it can keep

you stuck it can make you feel so small and it is nonsense my friends so this expression basically

means you know just say you're a salesperson you're only as good as your last quarter meaning

you might be an incredible salesperson but then then the last couple of quarters, for whatever

reason, weren't as strong and so you're not as good. Or maybe you're an incredible artist of some

kind who puts their heart and soul into their work and you've had some success, but maybe this year

has been a bit of a struggle. And then someone might say, oh, well, you're only as good as

your last year in business. And then you think, what about everything that led to this point?

My friends, whether someone says this to you, whether this is part of our culture, whether it's

part of our culture or not, we can have these thoughts about ourselves. We forget about

everything that led us here, everything we've

survived, everything that we've learned, everything that we've come through, and we can

judge our worth based purely on our most recent results. And if those recent results aren't
