Yesterday marked the first day the Steelers voluntary off-season program, and not only is that not the stuff of big blaring headlines, it really can't be because there's no media access

permitted.

What's more, there really isn't any football that's happening.

They go out onto the fields, they do some of their running out there, but for the most part,

you're talking about meetings, some strength and conditioning stuff, more meetings, rehab,

and more meetings.

But then that's kind of the point.

They have people to meet.

Mike McCarthy comes in as the new head coach,

first one of those in two decades,

and he brings back only two members of Mike Tomlin's staff,

which means there isn't anyone who goes unscathed in the entire environment as far as having to start learning new stuff from someone new.

The Steelers official website quoted Alex Highsmith as saying, everyone being here today, all the veteran faces, everyone's showing up. It's really cool. I think it's important that we're all here because through this process, through OTAs, through mini camp, you're able to learn the new playbook, get to know the new coaches, build that relationship,

build that trust with the guys.

And ultimately, I feel like you're playing the best when you trust those guys that you're around.
