A federal court judge has sentenced Sean Diddy Combs to just over four years in prison.

The court also imposed a $500,000 fine, the maximum amount allowed.

In July, a jury convicted Combs on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.

Prosecutors had asked for a sentence of more than 11 years, while the defense wanted

a more lenient sentence of no more than 14 months, including time served.

Combs' defense team argued he was not guilty and was targeted unfairly by the government.

In court today, Combs begged the judge for mercy.

He apologized to all of the victims, including the prosecution's star witness Cassie Ventura.

Three of Combs' sons and three of his daughters took turns speaking at the podium, asking

the judge to give him a second chance.

Combs broke down and cried when the court played a video his defense team put together,

showing footage of his charity work and family.

The Senate has failed again to pass competing short-term funding bills from Democrats and Republicans

to end the government shutdown.

This means the shutdown will likely drag into next week.

The Trump administration has signaled

that thousands of federal government layoffs

could start as soon as today.

Stocks were mixed as investors

continue to brush off concerns about the shutdown.
