a 27-year veteran of the NYPD. Tonight we have a really interesting show, and maybe it's not one of the

trending topics we have been covering, but nonetheless, it's a very, very important topic.

And basically, it's the fentanyl crisis. And the title of it is, did Washington ignore

warnings about fentanyl. And tonight we have an outstanding guest, Jonathan Alperi, who is usually

a war photographer. He's embedded all over the world, taking pictures of wars on all continents.

And he wrote a story this time, published in Tablet Magazine,

about that very topic did Washington ignore warnings about fentanyl.

And we're going to do a deeper dive into what fentanyl means to this country.

But I just see, in the first paragraph of his story,

we're losing an entire generation due to drugs, said Michael Cole, the founder of Lawrence Wish Addiction Triage Center, an organization

named after the daughter he lost to a fentanyl overdose. Growing up in West Virginia,

Lauren was a strong student, athletic and kind to others at 16. She became

addicted to opioid. She died on July 9th, 2020 at the age of 26. This could be anywhere in the

country. We hear stories about this in New York, in Ohio, in Florida, in California,

in Wisconsin. Every state in the union, we hear these opioid, these fentanyl stories.

So we're going to take a deeper dive into that.

And Jonathan has seen a lot of this.

He's done a lot of research on this article.

He spoke to a lot of people from the Drug Enforcement Task Force.
