Summary

Gary talks with Sandra “S.J.” Peddie about her series of interviews and subsequent book on John Franzese aka Sonny Franzese. This is the story of a Colombo crime family underboss John “Sonny” Franzese. Franzese gave Ms. Peddie, an award-winning author, unprecedented access to his life in interviews both before and after his release from federal prison at age 102.  FBI Director Herbert Hoover had once ordered an all-out assault to put Sonny Franzese in prison. Franzese was feared, loved, and most importantly respected by other New York mobsters during his lifetime of criminal activity. We learn that the famous Copacabana club staff always made sure he had a table even if they had to set a table on the stage. He became the manager and friend Bobbie Darrin, the only singer Sinatra envied. Ms. Peddie tells all the inside stories as a teaser to her well-received book Sonny: The Last of the Old-Time Bosses John “Sonny” Franzese.
