On March 4th, 2022, shortly after 3 a.m., 31-year-old Corey Richens called 911.

She was frantic and told the dispatcher that she had found her husband, 39-year-old Eric Richens, unresponsive in their bed.

Corey later told investigators that she and Eric had been celebrating the night before.

Corey's real estate business, which she had founded in 2019 and named Kay Richens Realty LLC,

was thriving.

The business bought and flipped houses, and Corey had just closed a deal on a huge property in a resort area of Utah.

Corey's dream property was a 10-acre estate in an area called the Heber Estate. It's near Salt Lake City, but also Park City.

Now, this is a glamorous area, near where they hold the Sundance Film Festival.

The property is set on 20 acres and has a 20,000 square foot mansion and a 4,000 square foot

guest house on the property. The home was unfinished and abandoned. Corey had dreams of using

financing from a group of investors,

buying the home for $3.9 million and redeveloping it as some sort of a wedding destination.

She planned to sell that property and make millions of dollars.

To celebrate, Corey and Eric had cocktails.

Corey had made Eric a Moscow mule, a mix of vodka, ginger

beer, and lime. And then they went to bed. Now, Corey and Eric had three sons. Corey said after they

retired to the bedroom, she went to comfort one of her sons who had been having nightmares.

She went there at around 9.45 p.m.

and ended up staying in bed with him for a few hours before coming back to the master bedroom.

She later told police she got back to the bedroom with her husband at around 3 a.m.

She told the dispatcher that her husband's skin was cold to the touch.

They told her how to do CPR, and she told police she immediately started performing CPR.
