In June 2019, Keith Renary, the self-appointed vanguard of the Nexene cult was convicted of racketeering, racketeering conspiracy, attempted sex trafficking, sex trafficking conspiracy,

forced labor conspiracy, and wire fraud conspiracy. As someone who attended and reported on his trial, the jury's verdict was not

a surprise. The evidence against him was overwhelming. So much so that Reney's legal team chose not to

present the jury defense. Well, Reneerie is launching an appeal from his Arizona maximum security prison cell with the help of

four new lawyers, one being Marty Tankliff, a man who was convicted of the 1988

of his adopted parents, Arlene and Seymour Tankliff in 1990.

Tankliff was released from prison in 2007 and his conviction vacated.

Why Tankliff was convicted and how he was released is the subject of today's episode.

amazing development, right? We saw Keith Ranieri appealing to the wrongful conviction movement,

claiming that his trial was unfair.

We saw records of his prison conversations where he was trying to contact such famous people

as Jason Flom of the Wrongful Conviction Podcast.

Marty Tankliff's name came up.

He was looking to start like a contest for people,

for sort of internet sluice who could, for $35,000,

who could find the flaws in the prosecution's case that convicted him.

And instead, Amanda Knox, another darling and friend of Marty

Tanglifts came out and said that Ranieri's conviction should be vacated. It was all unfair. And
