| 0:00.0 | You are listening to the Roberta Glass True Crime Report, putting the true back in true crime. |
| 0:26.1 | From New York City, Roberta Glass is now on the record. |
| 0:36.6 | Hello listeners. |
| 0:56.4 | This is Jane from the National Organization of Victims of Juvenile Murderers. I'm making a guest video about Ohio Senate Bill 256, which was signed by Governor DeWine in January and will go into effect on April 12. As I explained in my first episode with Roberta, SB 256 reduced sentencing options for juvenile offenders, and OBJM opposes it for the reasons I will detail in this video. To summarize, |
| 1:02.0 | it mandates sentences that are very lenient when compared to some crimes, thus denying justice, |
| 1:07.4 | demeaning crimes, and devaluing victims. It also makes many dangerous criminals, |
| 1:12.3 | including kidnappers, rapists, and murderers eligible for parole, and it re-traumatizes victims by |
| 1:17.8 | forcing them to relive the crimes at parole hearings. SB-256 was rammed through due to negligence |
| 1:23.9 | and recklessness on the part of lawmakers and lies in propaganda on the part of activists. |
| 1:28.9 | A bill that will drastically reduce the sentences of so many extremely violent criminals is very |
| 1:33.6 | dangerous, given how common recidivism is. And while most supporters of SP-256 probably have some |
| 1:39.3 | concern for victims, they apparently have more concern for violent criminals. This is why they were |
| 1:44.0 | willing to hurt victims in order to give violent criminals. This is why they were willing to |
| 1:44.4 | hurt victims in order to give violent criminals a chance of freedom. So before I start, I'll just say |
| 1:49.2 | we have a change.org petition up, and I encourage you go and sign that. In previous episodes, |
| 1:55.3 | Roberta and I discussed the movement to end life without parole for juvenile criminals. Elwap is the |
| 2:00.3 | short way of saying life without |
| 2:01.5 | parole. And as I explained in those two episodes, advocates of ending juvenile Elwap hurt victims |
| 2:07.2 | by promoting laws that deny justice and ret traumatized victims. They also use appalling propaganda |
| 2:12.7 | to advance their goal. Ohio was just one of many states to be targeted by juvenile offender advocates. I'm going to |
| 2:19.0 | go over lots of information, so I can't focus too deeply on everything. If you want to learn more about the |
| 2:24.1 | stuff I discussed, check the description box for links to website pages. I would like to thank Roberta for |
