| 0:20.7 | So hello and welcome to this next talk on samadhi. |
| 0:28.5 | And one of the things to appreciate is samadhi is not a practice per se. |

| 0:38.5 | The practices we do of studying the mind, focusing the mind, |
| 0:45.9 | being attentive to breathing, letting go of thoughts, |
| 0:49.7 | there's a lot of things we might be doing, |
| 0:52.5 | but that's not the samadhi. That's the practice to |
| 0:59.1 | enter into samadhi. And samadhi is a state. It's actually a variety of different kinds of |
| 1:07.3 | states of mind, of heart, of body, of a wholeness that we can experience. |
| 1:14.6 | And then it's important to appreciate that the practice, the instructions for meditation, |
| 1:23.8 | it can be state-specific. |
| 1:27.3 | There's a strong orientation for people to use as their reference point, |
| 1:34.6 | me, myself, and mine, how I am now, how this is benefiting me, how it's good for me, or if I like |
| 1:40.5 | this or not, if this works for me or not. And there is value in that to some degree, |
| 1:47.4 | but we can get stuck in that kind of orientation as well. |
| 1:52.0 | And meditation practice is meant to be something |
| 1:56.5 | that helps kind of step out of that excessive self-orientation, |
| 2:00.8 | self-referencing. |
| 2:01.6 | And one way to do that is to appreciate that we have to, when we practice Samadhi, |
| 2:09.6 | practice meditation, we have to adjust of our practice our practice according to the states that we're in. |
