On this podcast episode, I discuss dextroamphetamine's pharmacology, adverse effects, drug interactions, and much more!



Dextroamphetamine is a stimulant medication. Weight loss, insomnia, tachycardia, and hypertension are all possible complications.



There is a patch dosage form of dextroamphetamine available called Xelstrym. I discuss it on this episode.



Vitamin C can reduce GI absorption of dextroamphetamine due to its ability to increase the acidity of the GI tract.

The drug of the day today is dextroamphetamine.

As you could imagine with the ending of that name, amphetamine,

it is going to have similar effects to amphetamines in general, so obviously it's going to be a

stimulant type medication. Brand name, Dexidrine, Procentra, zanzetti, Zelstrom. Interestingly, Zelstrom is relatively new.

That is a patch formulation. Its primary use is going to be ADHD. And dosing on that one is

4.5 to 18 milligrams in that patch formulation.

That's kind of the dosing range, four different dosages.

And as you could imagine, for ADHD, we typically only do treatment during the course of the day.

So that patch is actually uniquely left on for a nine hour period,
