I'm Gianno Jalosi with your Fox True Crime Minute. Nearly 50 years after two teenage girls were

murdered in Broward County, Florida, detectives think they've cracked the case with the help of DNA

technology. It was a June day in 1975, 14-year-olds Barbara Schreiber and Darlene Zetterower

were sitting on a bench in Hollywood when a white van with two men inside pulled up. Police say

the girls were apparently frequent

hitchhikers and got into the van. They were never seen alive again. The next morning,

their bodies were found by a family fishing in the Everglades. They had been sexually assaulted

and shot to death. The double murder case went cold until 2023 when new DNA testing

flagged a suspect named Robert Clark Keebler, who died in 2019. Last week,

the Broward County Sheriff said a man named Lawrence Stein was also involved. He died in 2005.

Both suspects had long criminal histories, and the pair were suspected or charged in other

sexual assaults from Florida to California, dating back to 1972. There's more on the story
