i'm giana jolosi with your fox true crime minute attorneys for brian coberger who's been

accused of killing four University of Idaho students,

are asking that his long-awaited trial be delayed.

The court filing claims a recent NBC Dateline special has caused prejudice towards Coburger

and that his legal team now needs additional time to prepare.

The defense also believes that moving forward could infringe on Koberger's constitutional rights.

In the May 9th, Dateline episode, new information was presented, including surveillance video from a nearby

house. It showed a car similar to Koberger's that was in the area of the King Road

House several times before the four students were killed. The attorneys argue the episode will

taint the jury pool. Koberger's capital murder trial is set to begin August 11th. The 30-year-old is

accused of stabbing four University of Idaho students to death in November of 2022 at an off-campus home

in Moscow, Idaho. He was arrested the following month after a nearly seven-week investigation.
