1961, in the Belmont neighborhood of the Bronx, nine-year-old Caljaro watched as a couple of men

began fighting over a parking spot in front of him.

The altercation escalated as one of the men pulled out a baseball bat, attacking the other.

In defense, he pulled out a gun.

And all of a sudden,

Caljaro watched the man fall to the street in a pool of his own blood.

Standing just five feet away, Caljaro made eye contact with the Italian boss responsible

for the murder. You may recognize this story as the opening scene from a Bronx tale,

but for Chas Palmentary, he lived this very moment, and it changed the course of his life.
