That was Texas State Representative Gene Wu.

He's one of the Democrats who physically left Texas yesterday

to try to block a vote on a new congressional map that's been drawn by the GOP.

The proposal could mean the Dems lose five U.S. House seats in next year's midterms,

where Republicans face challenges, and that means it could potentially give Republicans

a bigger majority in the chamber. Many Democratic lawmakers left the state,

and dozens headed to Chicago, where they held a press conference heavily criticizing the GOP.

The tool they're using is a racist, gerrymandered map, a map that seeks to use racial lines to divide hardworking communities who have spent decades building up their power and strengthening

their voices.

Texas's constitution requires two-thirds of the state house to be present to conduct legislative

business. So as long as 51 Democrats stay out of Texas, they can block it.
