The White House is defending President Donald Trump's decision to fire the head of the Bureau of Labor

Statistics.

Trump claims that Friday's weaker than expected jobs report was, quote, rigged to make him

look bad, but he's given no evidence to back it up.

There are concerns that the jobs report is a warning sign about the economy, as it starts

to fill the impact of Trump's tariffs.

The U.S. is still working on deals with several countries, including China, as CNN's

Christie-Lew-Stout explains.

Hey, Joe, the U.S.-China trade truce could be extended beyond the August 12th deadline.

In an interview with CBS, Trade Representative Jameson Greer was asked whether the deadline

would be extended, and he said, quote, that's something we're working toward.

Agreeer also said recent talks are going in a positive direction and focused on rare earths.

If there is no deal by August the 12th, tariffs will snap back up to those ultra-high levels.
