President Donald Trump continues to claim without evidence that the July jobs report

and the massive revisions to May and June's reports were rigged to make him and Republicans look bad.

As a result, he fired the commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Dr. Erica McIntyre.

We'll be announcing a new statistician sometime over the next three, four days.

We had no confidence. I mean, the numbers were ridiculous what she announced.

That was Trump on Sunday. This morning on CNBC, the top White House economist, Kevin

Hassett, also took issue with the BLS's combined 258,000 downward

revisions of jobs data from May and June.

They could be politically manipulated because they're so untransparent.

There's a black box system out there making the jobs numbers that needs to be improved.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer called for Hassett to be fired for defending, quote,

Trump's lies about the jobs report and for the firing of the BLS commissioner. VLS revisions are normal,

because the initial numbers are estimates based on incomplete data, so the jobs reports get revised
