Today I'm speaking with Demis Hasabis, the co-founder and CEO of Deep Mind, one of the leading industrial research labs focusing on the question of artificial intelligence.

Now it's no exaggeration to suggest that Demis is also one of the world's greatest minds himself.

As a teenager he was ranked number two in the world for his age in chess, an avid games player he went on to win the

flagship pentamined event at the Mindsports Olympiad five times in a row.

Makes me think of him as the Bjorn Borg of Mind Games.

Demis then combined his love of games of that of computing,

designing the incredibly popular game

theme park with legendary games designer Peter Moligner. After studying computer science

at Cambridge, Demis went back to games design until 2009.

Since then he's focused his energies on neuroscience and artificial intelligence.

His research into the relationship between memory and imagination was listed in the top ten

breakthroughs of the year by Science magazine in 2007.

And in 2010 he found a deep mind with two of his friends.

It now employs nearly a thousand people.
