Former Representative Matt Gates' lucky streak, if you can call it that, may have come to an end. The Florida Republican resigned from

Congress just last month after being nominated for AG, but withdrew his name for consideration

for that position after it became clear there wasn't a path for him to get confirmed by the

Senate. Now, the reason for that, in no small part, was the House Ethics Committee's

investigation into his alleged sexual misconduct with a teenager, which he has repeatedly

denied. And though his resignation effectively iced the report's impending release,

yesterday we found out that the House Ethics Committee held a secret vote and decided to go through with releasing the report anyway.

Its release is expected after lawmakers wrap up their votes this week.

But somehow, that's not the biggest news out of Washington today.
