And there's just one thing driving the day and that is the continuing resolution to, you know, do the small thing of keeping the government open.

Basically, Capitol Hills version of the Nutcracker.

Just to catch you up, on Friday, government funding runs out. And the big story today is the fight over weather and how to keep it open. Yesterday, we finally, emphasis on finally, got the

continuing resolution. The Republicans on both sides of the hill were quarreling over. And today, with the fine print coming into view, it's actually not a sure thing that the GOP on both sides will show up to support it. And here to chat with me more about this CR is our fearless leader, Playbooks editor Mike Dubonis. Good morning, Mike. Hi, Eugene. I like when I'm on this side, and I feel

in charge of you, which is good. You should feel that way all the time. Yeah, for at least 10 more minutes.

You covered Capitol Hill for many, many years. Tell me, I guess, what you're seeing right now.

This is what conservatives wanted, it seems, a CR into next year, letting Donald Trump and the GOP trifecta kind of set the spending agenda.

That's what they said they wanted.

Yeah.

And here we are, predictable as the sun rising in the east.

House Republicans are mad about a year-end bill.

Like, first off, this was not, this is not unexpected.

Yeah.

Like, you know, I don't, not to be uncharitable towards our more conservative friends in the House of Representatives,

but they will find something to get mad about anything.

But I think Mike Johnson feels that way about them as well.

I think what's notable is that he's getting heat not only from the right flank, he's getting

heat from the center.

Everybody's kind of annoyed that this thing took so long to put together.

It's coming out.
