Here's what's driving the day. On Capitol Hill today, House Democrats are said to continue their year-end generational shakeup.

The party's influential steering panel met yesterday

to make its recommendations about who should lead the party on the House's myriad committees.

On agriculture, they went with Minnesota Representative Angie Craig over incumbent ranking member

David Scott, who has faced questions about his health.

On natural resources, California's Jared Huffman got the nod over New Mexico's Melanie Stansberry,

and perhaps the biggest headline from the steering panel came on its recommendation for the

oversight committee, where it narrowly went with Virginia Representative Jerry Connolly over New York Representative, Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez.

Now, these are just recommendations.

The full Democratic House caucus is set to vote on this later this morning, but it can give you a sense of where folks are.

Some of the Democrats we spoke with yesterday

say that AOC losing was actually a good sign. She lost by seven votes among the leadership

and kind of like the grand pooh-baz of House Democrats. It did not include some of the younger

members who are maybe more interested in voting for AOCs.

We will see how this all shakes out in just a few hours.

But the biggest story on the Hill has to do with Republicans and whether they will be able to fund the government.

For several days now, we've been hearing that a continuing resolution that would

keep the government running until March will land at any moment. But we still haven't seen it.
