Summary

In this debrief episode of Narcissist Apocalypse, Brandon breaks down the patterns of abuse found in Avery’s survivor story, including soulmate language, triangulation with former partners, financial abuse, and the confusion created when someone’s words repeatedly fail to match their actions. The episode also examines how Avery’s emotions, communication, and reactions were used to discredit her legitimate concerns. Apologies created hope and restarted the relationship without producing lasting change, while circular conversations kept Avery defending herself instead of addressing the original behaviour.

But before we get to that, if you have not

And as an adult, Avery did have a healthy long-term relationship, which gave her

0:55.4

an example of what a healthy partnership could look like. And then after that relationship

1:00.8

ended, she took time for herself away from dating and just tried to make sure that she was

1:06.0

really emotionally prepared before beginning another relationship. But then Avery met the abuser that she was

1:14.4

going to get into a relationship with. He was funny. He was attentive and he was constantly

1:20.0

communicating with her. He presented himself as someone who had been hurt and wanted love,

1:26.6

wanted a family, and wanted stability.

1:29.5

And he said that they were soulmates and appeared really interested in everything that mattered

1:35.3

to Avery.

1:36.3

And that was a huge hook.

1:38.5

And with that hook in, that's when actions and words stopped matching.

1:43.4

There were triangulating ex's, calling them unstable,

1:46.7

but still talking with them and engaging with them. And then other incidents began, you know,
