| 1:23.5 | quilt of humanity came about because when I look at any kind of oppression, and my main focus in that book is racism, it has a impact at three levels. |
| 1:33.3 | So there's the systemic level, right, in terms of economics, disparities in health care, etc. |
| 1:40.3 | Then there's the cultural level in terms of stereotypes. |
| 1:43.3 | And then there's the individual level in terms of stereotypes. And then there's the individual level |
| 1:44.9 | in terms of real psychological injury. And so I was trying to think of what's a metaphor that |
| 1:51.0 | shows that complexity. And the complexity being everybody has multiple social identities. So I thought |
| 1:57.9 | of a quilt because I do quilt. and it has three layers, right? |
