I'm straight into that first story. Widespread protests in Iran have now entered their 16th day.

And what began as a merchant strike in the capital Tehran in late

December has over the past fortnight spread across dozens of towns and cities throughout the country.

They've largely been clustered in big cities like Tehran as well as Isfahan, Shiraz and Mashad.

Despite a crackdown by government forces in recent days, the protests don't seem to be showing much sign of settling.

Though a communications blackout makes it difficult to verify reports from within the country,

there is lots of footage which has been confirmed. We know that on Sunday,

shops in a major bank in Tehran was set alight and plumes of black smoke were visible across the city's skyline as the protests entered their third day.

Under cover of darkness, protesters also blocked streets and diverted traffic in the capital while chanting anti-regime slogans.
