Summary

This is for the women who know they want kids eventually, but don't know if they're ready yet. Some questions don’t have a clear answer… but they follow you anyway. “How do I know if I’m ready to have kids?” is one of them. Especially for women. This isn’t a how-to guide. Nor is it a checklist. I’m definitely not someone to tell you what to do with your life. I'm just here for women empowerment which means talking about these things openly.

Dear Mary, how do I know if I'm ready to have kids? Is the title of this episode based on a

0:06.5

question that somebody sent me over on Instagram? And I'm really sorry, but I can't answer that for you.

0:12.2

I can't answer that for anyone. But I can tell you what this sparked in me and how I know that I'm

0:19.6

more or less ready, or at least as ready as I'll ever be.

0:23.3

So in this short episode, it's going to be a non-exhaustive reflection of just why I feel ready.

0:31.2

And this is for anybody who is maybe on the edge, but probably is closer to knowing that they probably want children eventually.

0:40.6

I cannot speak to not wanting children or wanting a child-free experience because that's just

0:49.5

not personally where I'm at, not that I think there's anything wrong with that.

0:53.1

And my intention in this

0:55.0

episode is to do two things. Like, one, connect over something that is just very real for our age

1:02.8

group, you know, being in our 20s, 30s, 40s. This is a big consideration. And I just want to start

1:08.8

the conversation. But secondly, on a personal level,

1:12.4

I want to challenge myself to speak candidly and say some things that might be unpopular opinions

1:19.6

and just share my experience without constantly having to preface it or put a caveat or apologize

1:25.9

or say, but like if that's not for you, that's okay,

1:28.9

because I want to trust that you are emotionally intelligent enough to know, to like just take

1:34.7

what resonates with you and walk away from what doesn't. And mostly this is just an insight

1:40.9

into like my mind and where I'm at with like trying to conceive and wanting

1:46.8

to start a family of my own. Hi, hello. Welcome to Mary's Cup of Tea, the self-love podcast for women.

1:53.8

Though all self-lovers are welcome here. I'm Mary. I write and speak about self-love and I'm best

2:00.0

known for my book, the Gift of Self-Love,

2:02.4

and I also host retreats for women. And this is the podcast that will inspire you to love yourself.
