Even with a critical summit between the American and Russian presidents just hours away,

Ukrainian civilians are continuing to be killed in Russian attacks.

Local officials say at least seven civilians were killed in several regions of Ukraine yesterday,

and another 17 civilians were injured.

And today, Ukraine's military is claiming to have hit military targets and an oil refinery

in Russian-occupied Donetsk, as well as a Russian ship carrying drone parts.

Ukraine's president, Vlodemezlensky, isn't going to have a seat at today's summit.

But as CNN's Elena Trina reports, President Donald Trump is saying if talks go well, the next

meeting will include Zelensky and some other European leaders.

Now the reason that's so important is because we know that European leaders and Zelensky,

who spoke with the president on Wednesday during a phone

call, have really been trying to bend his ear ahead of this.
