0:00.0	Hey Bible readers, I'm Tara Lee Cobble, and I'm your host for the Bible recap.
0:13.2	In lots of the books of prophecy, we read about prophecies not only for Israel and Judah,
0:17.6	but also for the enemy nations.
0:19.8	Jeremiah is no exception.
0:21.8	He spends the next few chapters addressing the surrounding nations directly, and we read
0:26.0	three of those chapters today.
0:28.1	In chapter 46, the first country he holds accountable is Egypt.
0:31.9	He's already told us what's coming for them, but today he tells them what's coming for
0:35.6	them, and he does it in two separate oracles.
0:39.1	While they're initially in a position of power, they'll be brought low.
0:42.8	Their towns will be destroyed, their soldiers will attempt unsuccessfully to flee, and as their
0:47.7	nation is crumbling, their leader Pharaoh will be rendered powerless.
0:52.0	Verse 17 says he's all bark and no bite.
0:55.7	In verse 19, God tells the Egyptians, pack your bags, next stop, exile, a nation is going
1:01.2	to invade you from the north, and he'll demolish all the things you expect to save you.
1:05.1	Your forest may be impenetrable, but they'll chop it down, because nothing can withstand
1:09.0	my command.
1:10.5	At the end of the chapter, God circles back around to have a chat with the Israelites
1:14.2	who've disobeyed him and fled to Egypt, and he's much more gentle with them than he
1:18.3	was the last time he spoke with them about this.
1:21.0	He starts out by reminding them, don't be afraid.
1:24.5	And surely by now you know why they can be fearless, right?
