My guest today is David Steinberg if If you don't know who he is, you should, because he has been part of more culturally important funny things than almost anybody.

Steinberg was part of Second City.

He was part of the Smother's Brothers show.

He was a guest on the Tonight Show more than like anybody except one other person.

I think he was on there like a hundred and twelve times or something like that and he

hosted it as a guest host 12 times and I mean this was back when you know in the in the late

60s when comedy was really threatening to

to the government and to religious leaders when when you know the culture was shifting what David was a part of was deemed by a lot of people

to be anti-American and he was a Canadian which probably made it in a strange way even

even worse.

The Smothers Brothers show, which was really the height of counterculture.

I mean, it's funny when you see this,

Mother's Brothers now, you can't imagine that to be the case but but it was and David famously did a

routine on that show that led to the canceling of the show because neither the

Smother brothers nor David would pull it and would stop the routine
