Welcome to episode 100 of Real Cool History for Kids.

So whoever you are, no matter where you live, and however old you are, this one is for you.

As I was preparing for this extra special 100th episode, I thought about the deepest, most important

reason I create this podcast show for you.

I thought to myself, what is the most important lesson and story I want to tell everyone?

Something special for this 100th episode.

I thought about all the boys and girls and their families who listen every time there's a new episode. And I thought about the world we live in. And you know what

happened? One of my most favorite characters in the Bible came to my mind.

I thought about Daniel and how his story reminds me of you, the youth of today, who are being taught the truth of the gospel of Jesus, yet who live in a culture that is mostly hostile to that truth. A couple of

episodes ago, I told you the story of Esther, the queen who saved her people. I taught you a short

history poem to help you understand when Esther lived and who exactly she was.

In that poem, I talked about a Babylonian king named Nebuchadnezzar.

I called him King Nebby.

This is the king in the story of Daniel.

We will begin our story by reading the first few verses of the book of Daniel

in the Bible. This is the English standard version of the Bible, so the ESV. This is what it says.

In the third year of the reign of Jehoiacim, king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon,

came to Jerusalem and besieged it.
