A South Jersey man says he and his teenage cousin were assaulted Wednesday night over a bag of candy while they were trick-or-treating.

Daniel Peterson suffered a broken jaw, needed 28 stitches.

I probably got hit in the face 20 times within two seconds, he said.

Peterson says that they were approached by a group of teens just a couple of blocks away from

their home.

Peterson and his cousin Ethan Dre tried to ignore them, but it got violent quickly.

Do you guys see this guy's face? Yeah. I mean, it's just a mess, an absolute mess. He was beaten horrifically. On a night, by the way, where you could have gone to any door and gotten it for free. Yes, seriously. I these A-holes. Yeah. I mean, there's nothing more to say than that.

Dre, who has autism, said the attackers were armed with knives, bats, glass bottles, and metal poles. So they went out to do something like this. Oh, of course he did. He said the attack was fast. He was knocked unconscious while Peterson bore the brunt of the beating. I thought they killed him, Dre said. The attack itself happened on Argo Street, a dark side street near Philadelphia Avenue and Egg Harbor City.

The pair flagged down police and then were taken to the hospital.

Dre suffered a concussion. Peterson will need surgery once the swelling goes down. The victims say

they recognize some of the attackers as local teens. Police are looking at area surveillance

video to identify those who were involved in anyone with information is asked

to contact police. A man found shot inside a car in Mayfair was a realtor who may have been

in the vehicle for a full day before he was found. Philadelphia police said 54-year-old Orlando

Martinez was found in the 4,500 block of Oakmont Street around 11 a.m. Wednesday. Martinez was barely

clinging to life when he was found. Police said they rushed him to the hospital, but he died a

short time later. Martinez's car was parked outside of the home for sale that he was showing to

prospective buyers. Martinez was a resident of Westville, New Jersey. His family became concerned

when he didn't come home Tuesday night. Investigators believe Martinez was shot inside the car by someone he knew.

Robbery does not appear to be a motive, police say, because he had all of his belongings on him.
