Kathy. Good morning in the news this morning. A teenage girl and her five-year-old brother who were out trick-or-treating were wounded while being caught in the crossfire of two gunmen.

Authorities say 14-year-old and her younger brother, Mayel, were enjoying the Halloween evening when the shootout began about 620 on the 5,700 block of Hope Street, Nalney. The teen was grazed and the little boy was struck in the leg. Mackaya has since been released from Einstein Medical Center, but her brother was transferred to St. Christopher's Hospital, where he may require surgery to remove the bullet from his leg.

Detectives are now combing through a maze of crime scene tape searching for clues that will lead

them to the shooters. They say at least six shots were fired from two separate guns.

A container of candy dropped on the sidewalk could be seen inches away from the shell casing.

That made me so sad. I know. One of the most joyous nights for kids. Yeah. Interrupted by this crap. I mean, fortunately, I heard the mom say this morning that, you know, obviously she's happy that it wasn't worse. Yeah, yeah. You know, obviously wished that this hadn't happened, but both of her kids are still alive. I mean, so sad for these

kids. It's not clear what prompted the shooting or what relationship the gunmen have with each other.

Investigators are also looking at area surveillance to see if they captured the suspect on any

surveillance video. They're asking anyone with information to contact police. There was also a second

shooting and they're looking now to see

if they're connected in any way. Patients at a second New Jersey pediatric facility have been

found to have a respiratory virus, but authorities say it's a different strain from the one that's

linked to the nine deaths. The state health department says there are four confirmed endovirus cases

among pediatric patients at Vorhees

pediatric facility in Camden County. But preliminary tests have rolled out type 7, the strain linked

to the nine deaths at the Winaqua Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. New Jersey health officials

are sending infection control teams to four long-term pediatric centers in a hospital to assist

with training in the middle of the

viral and bacterial outbreaks that have killed a combined 10 people.

One of the deaths at the Winaqua Center was a young adult.
