In the news this morning, official said the Springfield Mall reopened yesterday after reports of gunfire propped in an evacuation and closing Saturday afternoon.

The mall parking lot was packed with cars and filled with people when shots were fired and shoppers were seen running out in fear.

Children in Halloween costumes and parents were walked through the Springfield Mall in Delaware County with their hands up.

There were crowds of nervous shoppers running out and yelling when the shots were fired.

Others were escorted by Springfield Township Police at about 1 o'clock in the afternoon.

A bullet pierced through a windshield of a parked car outside.

Police say it all started as a fight between two groups of people inside that escalated into the parking lot.

Investigators believe shots were fired from both sides.

Shoppers and store employees were told to shelter in place while each store was cleared.

The Springfield Mall was shut down for the remainder of the day.

Throughout the evening, shoppers were turned away by security when they arrived at the front entrance.

The Springfield Township Police Department is investigating.

There are cameras everywhere inside and outside of the mall.

The department is reviewing footage in hopes to identify the people involved and the cars used to get away.

Fortunately, there were no injuries that were reported, and the mall did reopen yesterday at 11 a.m.
