Good morning in the news this morning.

Officials are investigating the circumstances behind a fatal police involved shooting in

violent Cumberland County Thursday. It happened around 3.30 in the afternoon in the parking lot of

just-for-wheels, car truck, and van rental on the 2,500 o'clock of Delsey Drive. Officials said,

according to a preliminary investigation, the shooting occurred when detectives from the Cape May County

Prosecutor's Office and Lower Township Police Department encountered a man as they were conducting a law enforcement operation at the scene.

Officials said one of the detectives shot the man. Officials say that the victim was taken to a

hospital in Vineland where he was pronounced dead. Officers shut down a three-block radius,

crippling the evening rush as the New Jersey, as the New Jersey Attorney General's

Office investigated at the scene. Officials say none of the detectives were injured in the

incident. The U.S. Justice Department has opened an investigation of child sexual abuse inside

the Roman Catholic Church in Pennsylvania using subpoenas to demand confidential files and

testimony from church leaders, according to two people familiar with the probe.

The subpoenas served last week followed a scathing state grand jury report over the summer

that found that 301 predator priests in Pennsylvania had molested more than a thousand children

over several decades and that the church leaders covered up for the offenders.

Now federal prosecutors are bringing the Justice Department's resources to bear.

U.S. Attorney William McSwain of Philadelphia, who issued the subpoenas,

wants to know if priests, bishops, seminaries, or others committed any federal crimes.
