Good morning in the news this morning.

A 20-inch water main break in the Fishtown section of Philadelphia has caused major flooding on a well-traveled intersection to buckle.

East Gerard Avenue is closed from Frankfurt Avenue to Marlborough Street.

Officials say they will expand the closure to Delaware Avenue as the repairs continue.

The Philadelphia Water Department received a call about 11 o'clock last night of a street collapse and water gushing at the intersection.

Crews arrived in search for the correct valves to shut off the water at about 1215.

I'm sorry, 2.15.

The water department shut off the water main.

Customers in the surrounding areas reported low water pressure or no water at all.

Most of their service has been restored, but they say there are

still homes on one side of Gerard that do not have water service. The Philadelphia Water Department

says service will be restored to those homes later in the day. Some businesses did get water

in their basements. And the water department is urging people to check with septa this morning because

buses are being detoured around where this is. Completely sucks. What was sucks what was it a couple months ago there was that massive one in the in the

city yeah yeah and then the just businesses get destroyed and it's dealing with it and the ramifications

go on and on and on yeah so most people got their water back but they did say um you know some

businesses got water in the basement.
