In the news this morning, firefighters have brought under control a blaze that engulfed a West

Philadelphia church causing portions of the building to collapse and sending one person to a hospital.

The three alarm blaze erupted at the Greater Bible Way Temple at 52nd in Warren Street just before

3 o'clock yesterday. Philadelphia Fire Commissioner Adam Thiel says at least one person was

transported to an area hospital for unknown injuries. There were workers on the roof at the time of the fire.

Witnesses say that Benjamin Peterson, the pastor at the church, was trying to help the worker

put out the fire, but it got out of control.

Firefighters worked feverishly to save the church that was built in 1904.

The church also operates as a shelter for about 15 to 20 senior citizens.

Portions of the building collapsed internally or into the street.

There was no immediate word on a possible cause, and the Red Cross of Eastern Pennsylvania

and other local agencies are assisting firefighters and the church.

Philadelphia police are searching for two suspects responsible for stealing $30,000 worth of electronics

from a school in the city's Germantown section.

Police say that the series of thefts happened at the Germantown Friends School between August 5th and August 9th.

The suspects got away with 16 Mac mini computers, desktop computers, and iPad, and 260-inch TVs.

That sucks.
