In the news this morning, Philadelphia police said a man died after a physical

altercation during a carjacking in Northern Liberties and that officers used the Toyota mobile

app to track the stolen SUV to Camden, New Jersey. Police responded to several 911 calls

just before 10 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of 3rd in Cambridge in Northern Liberties.

Witnesses were rendering aid to the 60-year-old victim who

was on the ground. Police said, investigators said his head was bleeding. He was semi-conscious,

but unable to get up. Medics rushed him to the hospital where the victim died less than an

hour later. A witness told police the victim was sitting in a parked 2003 Toyota Highlander

SUV when two males pulled up on dirt bikes with their faces covered.

One of the suspects pulled the victim out of the vehicle.

There was a physical altercation.

One of the suspects drove away in the SUV.

They took off and the other one took off on the dirt bike.

Police said a family member arrived right after the man was rushed to the hospital.

Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small says we believe the six-year-old male was sitting in his Toyota Highlander waiting for this family member.

Investigators said they were able to use the Toyota mobile app to track the victim's brand new vehicle and found it abandoned in the back of a property in Camden.
